While studying abroad in Italy during Spring 2023, I created a brand identity for a piazza in Rome, Italy with the following adjectives; Contemporary, Elaborate, and Inclusive.
Piazza di Spagna ("Spanish Square") is more widely known as the Spanish Steps. This is one of the most famous squares in Rome and is located in Rome's city center, close to the Trevi Fountain, Pincian Hill, and the Borghese Gardens. The name comes from the Palazzo di Spagna, the seat of the Spanish Embassy for the Vatican located on this square. This Italian, Baroque style piazza was built at the beginning of the 18th century connecting Piazza di Spagna and the Church of Trinità dei Monti. At the base of the piazza you can find the Baroque fountain named Fontana della Barcaccia, “Fountain of the humble Boat,” built in 1627-29 by Pietro Bernini, who was the father of his more famous son, Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
While creating the logo, I had to adhere to my adjectives of being Contemporary, Elaborate, and Inclusive. This was achieved with the color palette and movement in the logo.
This work, along side my classmates of AS330: Graphic Design: Corporate Identity & Branding, was featured in the Art & Design Spring 2023 Exhibition at John Cabot University, in Rome.
